Candidates will synthesize research on issues and trends in instructional technology.
Course: MEDT 8463: Trends and Issues in Instructional Technology
Description:
I examined the ongoing debate between Clark and Kozma regarding the role of instructional media in shaping student learning outcomes. I compared the opposing views between Clark who believed media functions to transmit instruction and Kozma who argued media enhances learning through cognitive process engagement. The paper uses Sweller’s Cognitive Load Theory and Mayer’s Cognitive Theory of Multimedia Learning as theoretical foundations which are supported by recent studies on interactive simulations. This artifact shows my ability to combine advanced research findings with conflict evaluation and practical educational theory application.
